Our teens had the incredible opportunity to visit Bleu Root! Bleu Root gave our teens a tour of the entire restaurant and explained each area and how it is run in an effective way. Each member had the opportunity to cook in the kitchen with the chefs, learn about what it is like to be a hostess and what they do, serve as a waiter or waitress, and interact with the customers of the restaurant. This was an excellent way for the members to get some professional experience in a restaurant.

Chef Maria and Chef Peter spoke to the members about what it is like to be a business owner. They gave examples of what responsibilities are like in positions such as managing, supervising, taking care of your employees, and not asking something of your employees that you’re not willing to do yourself. Learning about these different responsibilities allows the members to understand the diversity in the workforce.

The day concluded with Chef Maria giving our members wonderful advice. Chef Maria had told them, “Nothing in life is free. You always have to put the hard work in to achieve your dreams.” and “Don’t let anyone take your dream away from you.” Thank you Bleu Root for the wonderful opportunity to see your great restaurant and showing our members excellent career choices.
