Toward the late 1990’s, companies and organizations were deeply engaged in a new found business concept, defining their all-important “Mission Statement”.  The credo that defined their existence, providing guidance for all stakeholders; staff, customers/clients, investors or donors.

To that end management staff, board members, even strategic consultants would spend hours churning out what they believed best defined their organization.  After full day retreats on this very subject the final document, fully word-smithed, was ready for prime time.  In most cases it was two or three paragraphs long, ready to be printed, framed and hung on the wall for all to admire.  Problem being if not in plain sight, no one could remember the contents, not even the most senior employees or stakeholders.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township was no different.  Don’t expect a recitation of our former Mission Statement as it would be hard to find and might exceed the word limit of this blog post. To correct this concern, the marketing committee was charged with developing a revised Mission Statement in six words or less.

We surveyed volunteers and staff asking what words best define Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township.  We compiled those findings selecting those most often submitted, enlisted copy writers and graphic designers to refine the end product.  Presenting our “new and improved” Mission Statement
