Kendra Allen Joins BGCDT as Director of Social Emotional Learning

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township is pleased to announce that Kendra Allen has joined our Executive Leadership Team as Director of Social Emotional Learning. Kendra brings a diverse and successful background in youth program leadership and counseling, including serving as the opening Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Central Iowa’s Glazer Club, which is located on campus and operated as a collaborative partnership for K-12 programs with Drake University. Kendra has also served as a Behavior Interventionist for the West Des Moines Community School District, Life Skills Coach and Group Counselor for New Avenues for Youth and Morrison
Child & Family Services in Portland, Oregon, and Intake Case Manager for My Friend’s Place in Los Angeles, California. Kendra earned her BA in Communicative Disorders and Spanish at the University of Northern Iowa and her Masters in Social Work at Portland State University.
In her new role, Kendra will be leading our Social Emotional Learning strategies, with an emphasis on further developing and improving our 21st Century Learning Center school district partnerships and outcomes by implementing the CASEL framework for staff development and training, family supports, and community partnerships. Her initial focus will be working to refine the effectiveness of our career coaching and mentoring programs to meet the goals of our recently awarded youth workforce development grant from the Kane County Office of Community Investment. We are excited to have Kendra’s experience, passion, and leadership for this important program for our children and families.
