3rd Annual Black History Celebration at Perry Club Site

In 1976, Black History Month was officially recognized by President Ford. To celebrate, Perry held its 3rd annual Black History Month Celebration. This fun-filled night included a poem read by our teen member Imani, a few performances by the STEP dance team, and wonderful soul food made by our culinary program participants! This celebration was made possible by our former Youth of the Year Kajira, who says, “It’s more than a club, it’s a lesson for life. These kids take stuff at Club to high school and college. We push them further.” Everyone had a blast, and we are excited to see this celebration grow in the years to come.
A big shout out to Kajira Blunt, our 2018 Youth of the Year, for putting together this Black History celebration.
