The Carpentersville Police Department recently hosted the 2016 Youth Police Academy for Carpentersville youth who are currently ages 12-17. The academy consisted of 5, four-hour days beginning Monday, July 18th through Friday, July 22nd with classes from 10 AM to 2 PM. We are proud to announce that ten (10) of our Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Towship Club members participated in the recent Academy!
The youth police academy is based off of the successful Citizen’s Police Academy and acquainted youth with law enforcement’s role in the criminal justice system and increased the understanding of what police face on a daily basis.
The Academy was a mix of classroom demonstrations and practical exercises, such as: Domestic Violence/Social Services, Traffic Laws/Stops & DUI, Drugs, Effects & Laws, Witnesses & Report Writing and many more. The final class included a graduation ceremony, where parents were invited to attend.
Thank you to the CPD for an awesome partnership with our youth!
