The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township presents our 1st Annual 2020
V500 Virtual Race!
Schedule of Races:
Celebrity Race – June 5th at 2pm
Member Race – June 6th at 5pm
Staff Race – June 12th at 2pm
Bonus Race – June 13th at 5pm
With the closing of our in-school Club Sites due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dundee Township (BGCDT) launched its VClub Platform, which allows us to engage our members online and continue to serve our eight program sites and communities. Our staff lead daily program activities involving the six pillars of our curriculum, featuring interactive Zoom live streams to lead them in the program’s topics and projects for the day. Integration of the My.Future online platform, and instructor- led art, STEM and cooking projects have been the highlights, all supported by “Club to Go” project kits distributed weekly. The V500 race will be the Capstone Project for this innovative virtual program.
V500 Race Format:
The BGCDT V500 will use pinewood cars assembled, customized and painted by Club Members at home, and then brought to the pit area at our Race Headquarters the week of May 25th. In the pits, they will be grouped by grades, with multiple heats run on a timed track to
determine class winners and our overall race champion! Additional awards will be presented for the best design, most creative, and most innovative cars. We will also feature a sponsor’s race, where cars designed and built by our sponsors compete for the coveted BGCDT V500 Sponsor Trophy.
V500 Race Grand Marshalls:
We have invited Tom & Wendy Herb from Fall Line Racing team, to serve as our V500 Grand Marshalls. Tom is a true racer with a long history in the GT Racing, driving a Porsche GT 991 on road courses and oval races throughout the nation.
