ABOUT THIS AMAZING EVENT
Developing the next generation of leaders is central to our mission at Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township. Our annual Youth of the Year program invites Club youth to participate in a comprehensive leadership education course. This course assists them as they develop tools to make a difference in their lives and their communities. The program includes a curriculum that involves public speaking, one-on-one mentorship, essay writing and team building. Through participation in the program, our youth develop skills in leadership as well as communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. Our 2019 Youth of the Year finalists are already well on their way to finding their voices amongst their peers. As they move forward in the Youth of the Year program, they’re working with their mentors to finalize speeches which they will deliver before a panel of judges.
The Youth of the Year program concludes with the Youth of the Year event on Thursday, February 21st at the Historic Otto Building in Carpentersville. Though only one youth will be named BGCDT Youth of the Year, each of the five finalists who participated in the program will be stronger leaders and voices in our community. The first place YOY winner will receive a $10,000 scholarship presented by the Foglia Family Foundation. The second place winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship presented by Leasing Associates of Barrington and the third place winner will receive a $2,500 scholarship presented by Leasing Associates of Barrington. All five finalists will receive a MacBook Air donated by Cindy and Patrick Galley.
Please join us to hear some amazing stories from inspiring teens as we celebrate the wonderful people they are today and the fantastic community leaders they will become.
