What is AmeriCorps?

Who can serve?

  1. Be at least 17 years old at the time of enrollment. 
  2. Have completed High School or a GED before receiving the education award.
  3. Successfully pass a background check.
  4. Complete hours of service , and MUST be available to serve during after-school program hours (usually 3-7 pm Monday through Friday).

As an AmeriCorps member with our organization, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Work with a subset of targeted disadvantaged youth and implement high-impact, evidence-based programs during out-of-school time.
  • Provide mentoring, support networks and specialized activities for targeted youth.
  • Recruit additional volunteers to help support the AmeriCorps Project Learn program.

    This program is FREE for military families. Some of the unique and exciting opportunities your child can participate include: 

    Programs Start May 4th

    Cooking Delights

    Cooking made fun and exciting. Breakfast bowls, homemade potato chips, healthy smoothies, pizza from scratch, and MORE!

    Innovative 3D Printing

    Students will learn to design their very own keychains and other exciting projects, and will receive their projects through the mail.

    Extreme STEM

    DIY build your very own solar oven, rockets, and even volcanos.

    Programs Start June 1st

    CoderZ

    Learn to program your very own video game, app, and design an awesome website!

    Personal Branding

    Define your brand, and design your very own decals, T-Shirts, logos and MORE! Student created decals will be mailed to your address.

    Indie Film Making

    Learn to produce your very own short movie using a camera/ phone, homemade props & set design, and editing. 

    As a bonus to signing up, members will have access to tutor.com. A service that provides tutoring services for FREE!

    The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township is one of the largest Boys & Girls Clubs organizations in the state of Illinois. We serve over 2,000 Club members throughout the year with afterschool programming, summer programs, and athletic leagues.

    BGCDT celebrates 24 years of service to children in 2021. We serve members at 9 program sites as well as our virtual club platform.

    Dear Parent/Guardian:

    In an effort to continuously serve members during winter break, Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township is providing distance-based, virtual programming for Club members, through which Club staff will facilitate program activities through online platforms. Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township will use software, tools and applications provided by third parties that members, parents/guardians and/or staff will access via the Internet and use for purposes of communication and programming. These platforms include Zoom Video Conferencing, MyFuture.net, and YouTube.

    This letter seeks consent for your child to utilize the software platforms for distance-based, virtual Club program purposes. The Zoom platform security and privacy features can be found here: https://zoom.us/security and at https://zoom.us/privacy. Please be aware that each application collects different information about its users and has its own privacy terms and conditions to which members must adhere. Please review these carefully before registering your member.

    In order to participate in virtual Club programming, you will need to provide the following:

    • Your child must have access to a computer, tablet, smartphone, or a School District assigned Chromebook or iPad, including access to the internet. 
    • We will use the Zoom software platform for group video chats, sharing projects, and program discussions in the chat.
    • MyFuture will be used for your child to participate in fun activities such as DIY Projects, Healthy Habits, and computer science.

    Our commitment to keeping the young people we serve safe is always our number one priority. Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township will actively monitor member activity on Zoom, YouTube, and MyFuture and will make every effort to protect member information by, among other things, maintaining control of, and access to, the data collected; prohibiting re-disclosure of member information; limiting the purposes for which the online platforms may use member information; ensuring there is no advertising and that no member information is collected for commercial purposes.
