BGCDT starts Alumni Association

Twenty one years ago the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township was formed to give kids an opportunity. It has been the dedication of our leaders- full and part time employees that have created a mentor relationship with thousands of kids over the past two decades. Nourishing character and inspiring potential has given The Club a base of current Alumni who are now employees.

Carpentersville McDonalds Re-Grand Opening

In February Carpentersville McDonalds held a Re-Grand Opening of it's Carpentersville location.  McDonalds first started serving burgers at this location in 1961, back then a customer could get the "All American Meal" which consisted of a burger, a fry, and a milkshake for just 45 cents.  Now the new modern McDonalds which is one of the highest volume McDonalds franchises in the area has touch screen ordering, and a brand new kids area.  Part of the re-grand opening included a donation of $1,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township.

Mission Complete

Toward the late 1990’s, companies and organizations were deeply engaged in a new found business concept, defining their all-important “Mission Statement”.  The credo that defined their existence, providing guidance for all stakeholders; staff, customers/clients, investors or donors.

 

Science Lab - Slime

This week our blue team at Lakewood School (3rd graders) worked in Science lab to hypothesize and create the stretchiest slime they could. Members were given the three main ingredients found in slime; a water and borax mixture, glue, and lotion. The group was then split up into three teams were they decided which ingredient they felt would need the most of to make the slime stretch as long as possible. After brainstorming and using their scientific method to decide which ingredient, they reported back to staff, Ms.

Club Members experience WONDER the movie

Thanks to Comcast, over 100 club members had the opportunity to watch the movie Wonder. Based on the New York Times bestseller, WONDER tells the inspiring and heartwarming story of August “Auggie” Pullman. Born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school, Auggie becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the local fifth grade. As his family, his new classmates, and the larger community all struggle to find their compassion and acceptance.

BGCDT Color Guard

The BGCDT Color Guard is one of our newest programs at BGCDT. The program currently runs at our Meadowdale Elementary school site location, lead by Unit Director Isaiah De La Cruz and Krystal Harro. The program focuses on leadership, teamwork, displine, and citizenship. The group has performed at several events including; Windy CIty Bulls, Kane County Cougars, Arlington Race Track, Wounded Warriors Golf Outing, and the BGCDT Tennies & Ties Gala.  If you are interested in having the BGCDT Color Guard at your event or would like to get involed in the color guard, please contact us.

2017 Tennies & Ties Gala - "50's Hollywood Glam"

Once again the the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township held it's Tennies & Ties Gala at historic OTTO building, with the theme "50's Hollywood Glam" on Veterans Day. The nearly 400 guests were treated to the BGCDT Color Guard presenting our Nations colors and a incredible rendition of "God Bless America"by our very own Blue Voices Choir.

2017 Operation Warm

While hats, gloves and warm coats are winter wardrobe staples for most, not all children have access to them. Every year the Rotary Club of Carpentersville-Morning tries to fill the void by partnering with Operation Warm to provide hundreds of children in the Carpentersville community with new winter coats. Made out of 100 percent recycled material, the outerwear is paid for through various fundraising events held by the Rotary Club.

National honor given to Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township board members

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township board of directors was recently presented with the League of EAGLES Gold Level award at the BGCA Leadership Conference. The award is broken into 3 different levels, bronze, silver and gold and the gold level is given to clubs nationally that have 95-100% involvement from their board of trustees in 6 key areas, Engage, Ask, Give, Lead, Evaluate, and Serve.
